Under the contract, Broadwind will supply 70 towers for Goldwind’s 1.5MW direct drive turbines.

Goldwind USA CEO Tim Rosenzweig said: "While proximity to the project and an ability to generate opportunity for the local wind industry certainly played a role in our decision, experience, high quality and a proven track record of success were key factors in selecting Broadwind as our tower partner for the Shady Oaks project."

Goldwind purchased Shady Oaks from Irish developer Mainstream Renewable Power at the end of 2010. It is now set to become the first Chinese company to supply turbines to a US utility-scale project.
