BNDES to fund 281.5MW project in Brazil

BRAZIL: The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved BRL790.3 million ($477.9 million) funding for wind farms totalling 281.5MW being developed by Impsa and EDP.

211.5MW of projects will be in the state of Ceará in north-eastern Brazil and receive BRL562.6 million. They will use turbines manufactured by Impsa.

The projects will be in the municipalities of Acaraú, Itarema and Aracati and have 156MW, 30MW and 25.5MW respectively.

EDP’s 70MW Elebrás Cidreira 1 Wind Park in Tramandaí, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, will receive BRL227.7 million.

The energy from the park has been sold to utility Electrobras for a 20-year period.
