Siemens, Vestas and Suzlon join forces on safety training

WORLDWIDE: Vestas, Siemens, Suzlon and other manufacturers are planning to cooperate on a joint safety training programme.

Vestas intends to create a standard for Basic Safety Training within the framework of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO).

The GWO was founded in 2009 by wind companies include Vestas, SSE Renewables, Vattenfall and RWE Innogy.

The new standard will mean that clients using turbines made by different manufacturers will only have to participate in one course if the companies are members of the GWO.

The programme is now finalised, and a test trial of the different modules has just been conducted. It is expected to launch in the first half of 2011.
