Western Wind Energy hands Gamesa 120MW deal

UNITED STATES: Gamesa has won a deal from developer Western Wind Energy to supply 120MW for an upcoming project in California.

Gamesa will supply 60 of its G8X 2MW turbines for the Windstar project at the Tehachapi Pass, southern California.

The turbines are set to be delivered from April 2011. The contract will include a 10-year service agreement.

It is Gamesa’s first supply deal with Western.

Western has a 20-year power purchase agreement for the project with Southern California Edison.

The turbines will be manufactured at Gamesa’s Pennsylvania facility.
