Projects announced

UK: Volkswind has made contact with local residents regarding its proposals to erect 10 wind turbines at a site at Heydon Grange, near Fowlmere, in South Cambridgeshire.

AFRICA: Lesotho is set to build its first ever wind farm with construction starting in 2011.

AUSTRALIA: Epuron is planning to construct the Liverpool Range wind farm at a site between Cassilis and Coolah, in the middle of the Upper Hunter area of New South Wales.

TURKEY: Ormazabal has supplied medium voltage switchgear and protection devices for the Turguttepe wind farm located in Milas, Turkey which became operational in November 2010.

UNITED STATES: Cascade County Zoning Board of Adjustment has granted special-use permit to Invenergy to build the 24 MW Big Otter wind farm in Montana.

ROMANIA: CEZ has secured a 17-year EUR200 million loan from the European Investment Bank to finance construction of the second phase of the Fantanele-Cogealac wind farm in Romania.

Project supply contracts

UK: EDF Energy has awarded a contract to Vestas to provide 48 wind turbines for its Lammermuir Hills wind farm in the Borders, Scotland.

DENMARK: MT Højgaard has won a €175 million contract from Dong Energy to manufacture and install turbine foundations for the Anholt offshore wind farm.

SCOTLAND: Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd (Morl) is looking for most viable locations to make an onshore base for its £4.5 billion Moray Firth offshore wind farm.

Wind Finance

UNITED STATES: NorthWestern Energy has tentatively confirmed to buy a 25 MW wind farm to be built near the Highwood Mountains, east of Great Falls in Montana.

CHINA: China Ruifeng Galaxy Renewable Energy has offered to release $18.58m of convertible bonds to capital markets services firm Advance Gain Enterprises.

UK: University of Edinburgh spin-out company NGenTec has attracted £2m in equity investment to be used to deliver its generator technology to the large-scale offshore wind turbine market.

GERMANY: Conergy AG has signed an agreement to sell its German and French wind development and operating assets to an investment fund managed by Impax Asset Management.
