Vestas wins 50MW V100 deal for New Mexico

UNITED STATES: Vestas has received an order for 50.4MW from Element Power for a project planned for New Mexico.

The deal is for the first phase of the Macho Springs Wind Energy project, which will be located in Luna County.

Vestas will supply 28 V100 1.8MW turbines for the project. The V100 is designed for areas with low-wind speeds.

The turbines are set to be installed by mid-2011. The deal also includes a 10-year service agreement.

Element Power also has an option with Vestas to purchase the remaining capacity for the project. The developer aims to proceed with the second phase in 2011.
