Projects announced

BELGIUM: The Antwerp Port Authority and the Left Bank Corporation are looking for a financial partner to build an onshore wind farm on the bank of the river Scheldt in western Belgium.

UNITED STATES: Horizon Wind Energy is seeking willing landowners to lease their land for a wind farm between Willmar and Olivia in Minnesota.

GERMANY: Property company RAG Montan Immobilien and RWE Innogy, have agreed to build a wind farm with a pumped storage system on top of the Sundern spoil heap near Hamm-Pelkum in North-Rhine Westphalia.

BELARUS: Swiss firm TDF Ecotech has agreed with local government officials in Belarus to build a 50 MW wind farm in the Logoisk District, according to local news sources.

Project planning

CANADA: The public consultation process has begun over Energy Farming Ontario's 12.5 MW Clean Breeze wind farm, located near the town of Centreton within the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, Ontario.

UKRAINE: Ukraine's Concorde Group has set a date of March 2011 to start building its 100 MW Kazantip wind farm in the Crimea region, and the company will also start building the first phase of its Sivash wind farm in late 2011, according to a company source.

CHINA: Huadian Power International Corp. has received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of Hebei Province to build two wind farms there.

UNITED STATES: The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has approved plans by Global Winds Harvest and Acciona to construct a 138 MW wind farm.

UNITED STATES: Horizon Wind has received approval from Ohio Power Siting Board to build its 150.4 MW Timber Road 2 wind farm.

Project supply contracts

AUSTRALIA: Windlab Systems and Suzlon Energy have agreed to develop a US$400 million wind farm 43 miles northwest of Canberra, in New South Wales.

INDIA: Vestas has received an order for 20 wind turbines for the 33 MW Vellappaneri wind farm in Tamil Nadu, India.

GERMANY: ABB has been awarded a contract by C-Power NV to desgin, supply and commission the offshore substation, and all land and sea cabling systems.

CHINA: Ming Yang Wind Power Group has signed an agreement to supply an unamed independent power producer with 200 MW of turbines for offshore tidal flats wind farm in the Beibu Gulf area.

UK: Mabey Bridge's new wind turbine factory at Newhouse, Chepstow has won a contract for five towers and nine foundation rings from REpower.

Wind Finance

CANADA: Bridgepoint Group has secured development equity to finance a 200+ MW wind farm in Ontario, Canada.

UK: ScottishPower Renewables (of Iberdrola) has awarded the joint venture of John Sisk & Son Ltd and Roadbridge (Sisk Roadbridge JV) a contract to expand Whitelee wind farm at Eaglesham Moor, near Glasgow in Scotland.

SOUTH AFRICA: Evolution One Fund is to invest up to ZAR146m ($20m) in the first phase of the Kouga wind farm located in Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.
