The project will use 20 V82 1.65MW turbines, which specialise in low-wind areas, and is set to come online during the second quarter of 2011. Additionally the deal includes a 10-year operations and maintenance agreement.
The V82 turbine has been ordered for a number of Indian projects recently. In August, Hong Kong-based wind developer CLP ordered 24 V82 1.6MWs (40MW) for a wind farm being developed in Karnataka, southern India.
More recently, Acciona ordered 34 of Vestas' V82 1.65MW turbines for a 56MW development in the southwestern state of Karnataka.
Sean Sutton, President of Vestas Asia Pacific said: "The Vestas V82 platform is a tested and proven solution for the moderate wind regime in Tamil Nadu and our project execution track record and capability are second to none."
