The order is for 43 V90-1.8MW turbines to go to the Rawson I and Rawson II wind farms near Rawson, Chubut province. It includes a five-year service agreement.

The delivery of the turbines is expected to start in the first half of 2011, with completion set for January 2012.

Recently, Argentina has been pushing to develop more renewable energy. Earlier this year it announced the results of its 895MW GenRen tender with 794MW going to wind projects.

According to a recent study by the Argentine Renewable Energy Chamber (CADER), nearly 70% of Argentina's territory has winds with an annual average speed of more than 6 m/s.

In central and southern Patagonia the speeds can average 9 m/s and can reach up to 12 m/s with annual average capacity factors of more than 45%.

Chubut was one of the big winners in terms of upcoming wind projects with 580MW planned for the province. Out of this developer Isolux won the largest share with 200MW across four projects, while Emgasud has another 20MW in Puerto Madryn.

However, there are fears that Patagonia's transmission line will not be able to cope with such a large concentration of wind projects in one place.
