EDPR finalises US management platform

UNITED STATES: Logica Iberia has successfully completed the testing of the new management platform for the 11 wind projects owned by Horizon, a US subsidiary of Portugal’s EDP Renováveis (EDPR).

The new platform will manage in real time the wind parks that have a total of 830 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 1.5GW.

Logica is also working on EDPR’s new global management center in Porto, which will control an installed capacity of about 10,000 MW, distributed over some 250 wind parks in Europe and the US. It is due to be finished in 2011.

Both projects fit into EDPR’s strategy of centralising the supervision and control of all its wind assets - the so-called project WEMS (Wind Energy Management System).

EDPR signed a €10 million contract with Logica Iberia to implement its wind farm management platform, improve market position and allow for future growth of wind capacity.
