Wind Wire: Suzlon wins 202MW turbine order

INDIA: Suzlon has received an order for 202.2MW from Indian wind developer Techno Electric for projects in the Tamil Nadu region. The order made to the Indian wind turbine manufacturer comprises 24 of its S88 2.1MW turbines, 34 of its S82 1.5MW turbines, and 48 of its S95 2.1MW turbines.

The installation will include two stages, with the first 101MW phase to be commissioned by June. A second phase of a further 101MW is expected to be commissioned by December 2011. Techno Electric currently has 96MW of wind projects online. The deal forms part of a wider 500MW supply order with Techno Electric.

Tamil Nadu was recently featured in Windpower Monthly's Power Places list (see last month) as one of the world's top ten locations for wind development. Currently 42% of India's wind installations are in the state.
