Morocco launches 150MW tender

MOROCCO: Morocco’s power operator has floated a tender for a 150MW wind farm located near Taza in the north of the country.

According to Morocco 's power company Office National d'Electricite, the winning contractor will be awarded a 20-year contract for the $3.5billion project.

Bidders have up to December 10 to submit their applications for the development, which is located 300-kilometers from the capital Rabat. It is set to be brought online by 2014.

Morocco hopes to generate at least 42 percent of its total energy needs from renewable energy. It plans to develop at least five wind farms with the capacity to generate 2,000MW  by 2020.
