Iberdrola is handed Texas PPA

UNITED STATES: Iberdrola has been handed a power purchase agreement (PPA) by Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) for 30MW from its Peñascal II wind project.

The electricity purchased under the PPA will go to the City of Bryan, Texas. The PPA will run for 15 years from January 1, 2011.

Penascal comprises two wind farms of 201.6 MW each. Penascal I was completed in 2009 and Penascal II was completed this year. It is located in Kenedy County, Texas.

Together they use 168 Mitsubishi MHI 92 wind turbines, with a capacity of 2.4 MW each.
