Rodsand II 200MW offshore project comes online

DENMARK: E.ON has brought online its 207MW Rodsand II offshore wind farm ahead of schedule.

The project, which is located in the Baltic Sea off the Danish island of Lolland, consists of 90 Siemens 2.3MW turbines.

According to Siemens, all 90 turbines were installed in 122 days, six weeks ahead of schedule.

The project is two miles to the east of the Dong Energy-owned 166MW Rødsand I, which came online in 2003 and uses 2.3MW Siemens turbines.

The development of Rodsand, like other Danish offshore projects, was sponsored by the Danish government.

The next Danish offshore wind farm in the pipeline is the 400MW Anholt development. Dong won the rights to the wind farm earlier this year.
