China is set to trial a 5MW wind turbine at its pilot offshore wind project, the Shanghai East Sea Bridge Offshore wind farm, as part of a second developmental stage. The first stage of the project, to the east of the bridge, comprises 34 3MW Sinovel turbines, and was constructed in September 2008. The power was integrated to the local grid in July this year. The second stage of the project will be located to the west of the East Sea Bridge and will host 30 3.6MW wind turbines.
