CVPS signs PPA on Vermont wind farm

UNITED STATES: Energy supplier Central Vermont Public Service Corporation (CVPS) has announced it is to purchase two-thirds of the output of a planned local wind farm.

On completion, the Deerfield Wind Project will comprise 15 turbines and supply 30MW of wind power. CVPS will draw 20MW of that output for nine years.

Deerfield’s total output should provide enough electricity for 14,000 Vermont homes, according to CVPS.

The cost of the deal has not been disclosed – but CVPS President Bob Young described the deal as "very competitive".

The wind farm is being developed by Iberdrola Renewables.
