Vestas is handed 40MW Indian deal

INDIA: Vestas has been handed a deal by Hong Kong-based wind developer CLP to supply 40MW for a wind farm being developed in Karnataka, southern India.

The order comprises 24 V82 1.65MW turbines, Vestas Scada system and a 10-year operations and maintenance agreement.

Delivery is set to commence in the latter part of this year and the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011.

CLP has 300MW online in India with a further 150MW in development.

In addition to Karnataka CLP owns projects in the states of Tamil, Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat.Vestas claims to have 2.4GW online in the country.

According to Windpower Monthly’s annual Market Status survey, Karnataka was one of the top five states in terms of installed capacity with 13% of the Indian market. It follows Tamil Nadu at 42%, Maharashtra at 19% and Gujarat at 15%.
