The contract consists of 18 V80-2MW wind turbines and includes delivery, installation and maintenance. The turbines are expected to be on site by the third quarter.

Speaking about the deal, Vestas China president Jens Tommerup said: "Fujian is also one of the most important provinces for the wind industry in southern eastern costal area of China. Just this past half year, Vestas has received over 150 MW in orders for Fujian province alone, so we are well under way in building up a firm presence in this province."

China’s south-east coast is being lined up to be one of the country’s biggest wind energy producing areas.

In January, , the country's main economic management agency, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), approved a blueprint for green economic growth in the Yellow River Delta in the province of Shandong.
