Suzlon takes 25.5MW order for Rajasthan

INDIA: Suzlon has received an order from Hindustan Petroleum (HCPL) to build a 25.5MW wind farm in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

The Akal wind project will be located in the Jaisalmer district of the state and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Akal will use Suzlon S82 1.5MW turbines.

The project is HCPL’s second wind project and takes its’ current capacity to over 50MW. The company eventually plans to double this.

Rajasthan is one of the top Indian states in terms of wind power and supplies 7% of the country’s capacity. According to Windpower Monthly’s annual status report on the wind industry the others are: Tamil Nadu at 42%, Maharashtra at 19%, Gujarat at 15% and Karnataka at 13%.
