Wind Wire: Utility signs VIK for project probe

MACEDONIA: Local Macedonian power utility ELEM has commissioned UK-based company VIK International to prepare a feasibility study for a 45MW wind park at Bogdanci. Work on the EUR78.5 million project could start later this year, with the first kilowatts coming online in 2012.

ELEM estimates that the wind park will produce around 2% of total electricity production in the country. Part of the financing could come from IPA funds for nations hoping to join the EU, while interest has also been expressed by the European Investment Bank.
