NRG-Bluewater Wind president Peter Mandelstam told the (Wilmington) News Journal that the company filed its EPA application for a meteorological tower in February, but the agency has requested further information.
The EPA has asked for details on emissions that will be produced by the ship used in building the tower.
The tower was scheduled to go up before winter, but may be delayed until next year, Mandelstam told the paper.
Bluewater has leases from the federal government to carry out meteorological studies at sites offshore of Delaware and New Jersey.
The company has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Delmarva Power & Light for the Delaware project. It was the first PPA awarded for an offshore wind farm anywhere in the US.
