Vestas to launch new R&D division in Colorado

US: Vestas is launching a research and development facility in Louisville, Colorado as it seeks to expand its US operations.

According to reports, the facility will occupy 47,000 sq ft and eventually employ around 240 people. Vestas said the facility would initially support operations at its Colorado factories.

The company said it had chosen Louisville as it was central to Vestas’ other three manufacturing plants in the state. These are located in Brighton (gearboxes), Pueblo (towers) and Windsor (blades).

Finn Madsen president of Vestas techology R&D said: "Vestas has made a deep commitment to Colorado, which is evidenced in our factories and the establishment of the engineering site.

"By co-locating engineering and design competencies in the production cluster around Colorado, the proximity of technology R&D to manufacturing creates significant efficiencies that can be passed along as benefits to our customers."
