The contract will see Vestas install 44 V100-1.8MW and 35 V90-1.8MW turbines, which will be installed and brought online in 2012. It includes a 10-year service and maintenance agreement.
Additionally Capital Power has an option will Vestas for 375MW. The turbines are earmarked for two projects in Ontario, the 105MW Port Dover and 270MW Kingsbridge II wind farms.
Both developments will use the V90-1.8MW turbine, with 58 and 150 going to the Port Dover and Kingsbridge II site respectively. Both are dependent on environmental and regulatory approval.
The Vestas deal follows last month’s order for 49MW from International Power Canada Inc for a project in Ontario. The Point Aux Roches wind farm will use 27 V90-1.8MW turbines, which are likely to come online in the first half of 2011.
