Cannon buys into 200MW Colorado project

US: Cannon Power Group has signed a deal with Colorado State University to build a wind farm on the establishment's land near the Wyoming border.

The agreement involved 8,000 acres in the Maxwell Ranch area. The project was originally announced in 2007, when it was launched by Wind Holdings company and CSU.

Called the CSU Green Power Project, the plan is for a commercial scale wind project that will meet more than the campus' entire demand for electricity.

It has been estimated the wind farm will have a rated capacity of at least 65 MW. However, this may be as large as 200 MW.

The university hopes the wind farm could produce up to an additional $30 million in revenue for the university over the life of the project.
