Suzlon announces Q4 revenue fall

INDIA: Suzlon Group has announced a Q4 $40.1m loss with chairman Tulsi Tanti citing "challenging conditions" in the wind industry.

Revenue for the three months preceding March 31 dived to 60.84bn rupees, compared to INR91.21 rupees in the same period in 2009.

Suzlon Group said its order book currently stands at 1.126GW ($3.9billion), with $2.54billion of this sitting with its German offshoot Repower, a rise of $720m in March 2009.

The report said Repower had received a major increase in order for large-size turbines in the 3MW to 6MW range.

Speaking about the results, Tanti said: ""This has been a difficult year for the wind industry. While market conditions continue to be challenging, we have made encouraging progress. We are working on improving order pipelines the world over.

"To compete in an increasingly dynamic global marketplace we are focusing on developing group synergies with our portfolio of onshore and offshore turbines and market strengths; with our new product additions designed specially for low wind speeds we now have the industry's most comprehensive product portfolio helping us to push into promising new markets while building on our position in key markets like the Americas, Australia, Europe, India, China and other parts of the world."
