Although Darracott, near Great Torrington, has consent for three 1.3MW turbines, FIM plans to use 850kW machines, contributing to a total installed capacity of 2.55MW. It is currently negotiating with turbine suppliers and balance-of-plant contractors. Equity for construction will come from FIM's private clients - the Co-operative Bank is to provide a 15-year loan. FIM has diversified from forestry investments into renewables and already owns operating wind farms in Cumbria, northern England, Scotland's Western Isles and Powys in Wales. Natural Power Consultants will project manage the construction and then operate the wind farm when completed. Grid connection will be into Western Power Distribution's network.
