US-Latin American deal honoured

MEXICO: A 68MW wind plant in southern Mexico using 2.5MW Liberty turbines from US turbine manufacturer Clipper Windpower - the company's first sale outside the US - won 2010 Deal of the Year honours from the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank of the US.

The project, owned by Electrica del Valle de Mexico, a subsidiary of France's EDF Energies Nouvelle, and backed by an $80.66 million direct Ex-Im Bank loan, is one of the first large US wind technology sale in Latin America, according to bank chairman Fred Hochberg.
