Boost from two new projects online

CANADA: Construction has been completed on two new wind projects in Canada, boosting the country's installed capacity to a total of 3.4GW.

Calgary-based TransAlta brought its $123 million, 66MW Summerview 2 wind farm online on February 23, on budget and ahead of schedule. The expansion, comprising 22 Vestas 3MW wind turbines, brings the total installed capacity at the southern Alberta project site to 136MW. In Nova Scotia, Horizon Legacy Energy's 6MW Maryvale wind project reached commercial operation in February. The plant uses four German-made Vensys 1.5MW turbines.
