Marc Hilbert received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in Mechatronic Engineering in the Dresden Technical University, Germany, in 2009. During that time he collaborated in projects of human condition monitoring using EEG signals and electron accelerators.
From 2009 to 2011, he was with the System Department Operation and Control, Nordex Energy GmbH, as a development engineer. While there, he was involved in the design of Condition Monitoring Systems and Automation of large scale wind turbines. Since 2011 he is a Ph.D. candidate at the RWTH Aachen University, Germany at the Institute for Mining and Metallurgy Machinery (IMR).
His research is related to monitoring and diagnostics of heavy machinery as well as big data analysis. He frequently is involved in R&D projects for the heavy machinery industry.

His professional background is as a mechanical engineer and spent the initial part of his career in operations and maintenance management position in conventional power stations.
David has been working in the wind sector with ESB over the past 5 years with responsibility for ESB existing wind portfolio and putting in place the capability to manage ESB future wind portfolio.
ESB currently has 17 wind farms in operation (392 MW) and long term plans for 1600MW in Ireland and Great Britain.

He heads the Service Sales Team responsible for the selling Service contracts for new and post warranty turbines within the Northern Europe Sales Business Unit.
Prior to Vestas he worked at Rolls-Royce for 15 years in a variety of commercial roles in various locations including India and the US.
His latter role with Rolls-Royce was as Sales Director for Major Airline accounts responsible for the sales of aero engines and long term service contracts.
