Clean Energy Development brings its debut Romanian project on line
ROMANIA: Clean Energy Development, owned by Swiss investment firm Stream Invest Holding, has just brought its first wind installation on line in Romania.
The 3.2 MW wind park is located in Mihai Viteazu in Constanta county and represents the first portion of a total 28 MW project in the Romanian county expected to be completed in 2010.
The initial four turbines, which became operational in December, as well as those to be used on the remainder of the project are 800 kW, E-53 machines from German manufacturer Enercon.
Andreas Blutke, chief executive of Constanta-based Clean Energy Development and president of Stream Invest Holding says that an additional 16 units will become operational at sites in Mihai Viteazu, Pantelimon, Ciocarlia and Birunita in the first half of 2010.
The remaining 15 units will go on line in the second half of the year and will be spread out across Mihai Viteazu, Ciocarlia and Biruinta. Blutke says the investment for the 28 MW wind project is in excess of EUR 50 million.
Romania is considered to be one of Stream Invest’s focus countries for developing wind energy projects. While Romania’s wind energy market is in its beginnings, the Romanian Wind Energy Association forecasts that 1300 MW will be installed by 2012.
