The turbines are earmarked for Triventus’ 4.2MW Assjo project, which will be 150km from Gotenborg and Stockholm. It is Suzlon’s first order from a Swedish developer and includes engineering, construction and procurement.
Commenting on the order Suzlon CEO Erik Winther Pedersen said: "This is our first step into the exciting and promising Swedish wind market. We are very happy to take this step in partnership with Triventus AB laying the foundation for a strong future."
Neither company would reveal the cost of the contract. However it comes at a good time for Suzlon, which was recently forced to slash its full-year sales forecast for 2009 by 20%. It has also announced plans to refinance the INR 14bn debt it acquired during a period of expansion.
