25th Anniversary Special - Another Anniversary

The 25th anniversary of Windpower Monthly coincides with the first anniversary of its change of ownership, from a small, independent, single-product company to Haymarket Media, a UK-based publisher with 100-plus titles and international operations in the US, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia and India.

The 25th anniversary of Windpower Monthly coincides with the first anniversary of its change of ownership, from a small, independent, single-product company to Haymarket Media, a UK-based publisher with 100-plus titles and international operations in the US, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia and India. All highly specialised and driven by a fierce sense of editorial independence, the titles range from prestigious business brands such as Campaign, Management Today, ENDS (Environmental Data Services) and GP to consumer magazines such as What Car?, Autosport and Gramophone.

Many serve international markets, through wholly owned publishing entities or under licence in over 30 countries. All are available online, and many offer additional products such as career boards, conferences and data products.

Privately owned, Haymarket is chaired by former UK deputy prime minister Lord Heseltine, a leading figure in British politics for 30 years, who founded the company 52 years ago. Heseltine's twin mantras are the provision of information and independence of mind. "Our editors have always been independent," he says. "They want to tell the truth and give solid, expert information."

It is for these reasons that he believes Windpower Monthly fits well with Haymarket. The larger media group can also bring additional resources to bear.

Some results are already showing. Windpower Monthly has produced a series of special reports focusing on regions or topics; recruiters and those looking for employment in wind can connect through a new job board, WindIndustryJobs.com; a series of conferences is under way - the first took place this June; and a series of in-depth investment reports on specific countries will be published later this year.
