Joint Anglo-German development team

German wind farm developer EnergieKontor has joined forces with small UK developer West Coast Energy to develop three wind projects in south west England. The projects have power purchase contracts awarded under the third or fourth rounds of the Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation (NFFO); two are in Cornwall and one is in Devon. The first project is expected to be operational in Spring 2001. Guy Wilson from EnergieKontor UK -- subsidiary of the recently floated EnergieKontor AG in Germany -- claims the deal marks the rapid market entry of the company, which has been talking to potential partners about development of projects for the last year. "There is an obvious synergy between the two companies," he says. "We expect to sign agreements about development of further wind farms shortly."
