National Wind Power (NWP) has selected Bonus turbines for its second NFFO-3 project -- a 33 MW wind farm at Carno in Powys, Wales. Bonus is to start work on installing 56, 600 kW machines on the site in early 1996. Progress on Carno was held up while NWP awaited the outcome of an application by local electricity utility Manweb to build a new transmission line connecting the site to its existing grid. The Department of Trade and Industry approved the line in November. Construction of the transmission link will proceed in parallel with work on the wind farm which is expected to be completed by the end of 1996. Bonus is also supplying turbines for National Wind Power's first wind farm to be built under the third round of renewable energy subsidies -- NFFO-3 -- at Trysglwyn on Anglesey.
