Arrested for theft

Two men have been arrested for stealing wind power equipment in the Altamont Pass, according to the Tri-Valley Herald newspaper. Law enforcement officials believe the men are responsible for 90% of the thefts in the area over the last two years. An employee of a wind company called sheriff's deputies in the early hours of one morning to report trespassers. Two men were found near turbines of Arcadian Renewable Power Corp. "They had cut all the wire from ten of the wind power machines and were rolling it up and putting it in their truck," says detective Greg Swetnam. Both were caught and reportedly admitted stealing for the last year, he adds. Astonishingly, as much as $50,000 in copper wire and wind equipment was found in the home of one of the men.
