Two German, gearless turbines to be tested

Two German wind turbines without gearboxes are to be tested in side-by-side trials. A 300 kW Heidelberg vertical axis machine and a 500 kW Enercon E 40 turbine will be installed soon at a site near Trier. The project is supported by the state of Rheinland Palatinate and the federal 250 MW programme.
