Counting the growing number of energy policy consultations in UK

Britain's apparently insatiable appetite for energy policy consultations is highlighted by the Renewable Power Association's yearbook. Over 130 national consultations with relevance to renewable energy were conducted in the year ending March 2003. Hottest topic was Britain's new electricity trading arrangements (NETA), which sparked 53 consultations initiated by Balancing and Settlement Code operator Elexon over proposed modifications to NETA. Next comes energy regulator Ofgem, which held 39 consultation on BETTA -- the plan to extend the disputed benefits of NETA to the whole of Britain -- and embedded generation issues.
