AID TO EGYPT

Serious questions are being raised about the approach to overseas aid spending on wind energy in Egypt. The concern is not being voiced by envious bystanders, but by some of those closest to the wind aid programme. They say a re-assessment is long overdue. While wind energy in Egypt makes good long term sense, new thinking on how best to develop the resource is required. Denmark, it seems, continues to pump money into a wind programme which has lost sight of where it is going -- and Germany is about to follow suit. A clearer and more focused strategy is called for.
