DEREGULATION OF THE MARKET

Following the election of a new social democratic government in Sweden in September, deregulation of the country's electricity market, which was to have come into force from January 1, has been postponed. An energy commission will now study the issue further and deregulation may come about later this year or in 1996. Most local utilities have already prepared and reorganised for a deregulated market and there seems to be no doubt that it will eventually come about.
