Vestas has consolidated its position as the world's largest wind company, turning in an impressive results sheet for 1996. Despite stagnating markets in Germany and India, Vestas recorded both a record turnover and record profit last year. Turnover increased from DKK 1.51 billion to DKK 1.88 billion and profit increased by 80% to DKK 90 million before tax. The company expresses itself satisfied with the result, but expects even greater growth over the next five years during which period the world market is expected to expand by 15-30% a year. Denmark remained the largest single market for Vestas.
