Vindkompaniet builds in Cumbria

Vindkompaniet of Sweden, based on Gotland, has put in a bid to build a wind farm of seven, 500 kW turbines in Cumbria, northwest England. The chosen machines are from Danish company Wind World. British architect, Keith Boxer has been employed by Vindkompaniet to handle the project. The idea behind the scheme is to spread the concept of co-operative ownership of wind plant by local people, already a popular method of wind power investment on Gotland. Boxer is now working out how the concept can be adapted to English legislation, says Vindkompaniet. The company hopes to win a NFFO contract for the project this year.
