Centrica applies for 250 MW offshore construction permit

Power giant Centrica has lodged a consent application for its 250 MW Lincs offshore wind farm project, five miles from the coast of Lincolnshire in the Greater Wash in the east of England, one of the three areas around Britain identified for wind development under the UK's second generation of larger projects sited further out to sea. Lincs is to be built next to the company's Lynn and Inner Dowsing projects, which are to start construction this year once key contracts are finalised. Subject to consent by the Department of Trade and Industry, work could start on building Lincs in 2009.
