Green Islands

The Danish government is currently deciding which of four small islands -- with populations of 3000-12,000 -- will have all their energy needs, including transport, met by renewable sources. Kai Worsaae of the energy agency says the results of an initial study are expected by August 1 and a decision will then be taken on whether the ambitious project is to be carried out on Læsø, Ærø, Thyholm or Møn.
