Argentina megawatt unit with Russian help

A new 1 MW wind turbine has been developed in Argentina by Savoia Generators, the trade mark name of Brawner SA. The design and manufacture of the turbine, for stand-alone or grid connected operation, has been shared with six production facilities in the Russian aerospace industry. The rotor diameter is 48 metres, tower height 36 metres and the rotor speed is variable between 21 and 42 rpm. The machine specification is such that it could operate in a wide range of environments, with references to earthquake shocks and a temperature range of minus 50 to plus 40 degrees C. The service life of the main load-bearing units is 25 years. A pilot machine is now operating and ten further units are being built Brawner SA heads a group of enterprises with interests in the power generation and distribution business, manufacturing electro-mechanical and electronic equipment, including small hydroelectric units, windchargers, and photovoltaic cells.
