Wind counter productive on pollution claim

Harnessing wind energy is counter productive and prevents the use of more efficient measures of reducing pollution claims the German federation for landscape protection, Bundesverband Landschaftschutz (BLS). Furthermore, it says ecology and the landscape are being destroyed by wind plant in the name of environmental protection and the expansion of wind power must be stopped immediately. At a recent press conference in Bonn, the organisation claimed that wind turbines harm the landscape and represent an unacceptable financial burden for the population. "Fear and hysteria are continually and irresponsibly being stirred up over a supposed climate catastrophe in order to increase willingness to support already profitable wind energy," states the BLS. "Wind energy isn't climate protection, but an unscrupulous exploitation of many citizens by a few manufacturers and operators," according to Dieter Schoenfelder, chairman of the BLS. The organisation does not appear to be large. Hermann Scheer, a member of parliament and chairman of Eurosolar comments. "It's a tiny group of people who are taking personal revenge against wind turbine operators who have spoiled the view from their terraces." The BLS is specifically an anti wind power group, according to its literature.
