A TURBINE NAMED MOLLY

Vindenergi Väst AB has got its second Vestas 500 kW turbine on line in Kungshamn on the west coast of Sweden between Gothenburg and the Norwegian border. Vindenergi Väst, based in Uddevalla, switched on its first turbine, named Molly, in September 1993 in Mollösund, north of Gothenburg. Molly is one of the best producing turbines in Sweden, with 1267 MWh in 1994. The new turbine in Kungshamn, placed next to a waste dump, is expected to produce a little less -- 1100 MWh/year. The company is now planning to build a wind farm of six 500-600 kW turbines next to Molly in Mollösund and erect two more turbines in Kungshamn.
