WIND PLAYS STRONG ROLE IN QUEBEC DEBATE

Quebec's Consultation Panel for the Public Debate on Energy (Windpower Monthly, October 1995) has heard strong presentations in favour of wind and other new renewables. These include one from the influential Association Quebecoise Pour La Maitrise De L'Energie (Quebec Energy Management Association), an organisation of energy producers, users and other stakeholders with an emphasis on energy efficiency. It states that hydro and wind energy "fit together very well in Quebec." The provincial commission for the debate was expected to complete hearing testimony on Quebec's overall energy policy by late 1995 and to issue a report on its conclusion by mid 1996.
