NEW TURBINE TYPE

Specific plans for production of a new wind turbine type, the Wind Eagle, by Omni Power Group Inc are still up in the air according to the machine's designer, long time wind industry member Jay Carter Sr. He was speaking from his Texas base. Omni, based in the Palmdale area of Los Angeles County, and Jay Carter's Wind Eagle are linked to a recent National Renewable Energy Laboratory award to Teledyne Ryan International of San Diego. Omni officials told the Antelope Valley Press they are considering Antelope Valley as well as other areas of southern California near Tehachapi, Iowa and Texas for a production plant. They might eventually employ hundreds of people and are looking for 60,000-70,000 square feet of plant, Omni's Bud Pickle told the newspaper.
