New Brunswick evaluates 1400 MW of proposals of wind energy

New Brunswick Power is evaluating 25 proposals totalling 1400 MW of wind energy, more than four times what it was looking for in a recently closed request for proposals for 300 MW of wind energy to be on line by the end of 2010. "This additional 300 MW, over and above the 96 MW which will come online in 2008, is part of our commitment to New Brunswickers to increase our generation in the form of renewable energy by 10% and thus minimise our environmental footprint," says CEO David Hay. "After we have this generation in-place, we will be evaluating how we can move forward with additional wind energy generation." The winning projects are due to be operating by the end of 2010.
