Yukon resource assessment

The Yukon government is providing $150,000 to a wind resource assessment program designed to identify potential sites for small-scale and commercial wind installations in Canada's far northwest. Yukon Energy Corp's John Maissan says the funding will allow the utility monitor at least five sites suggested by individuals or businesses interested in utilising wind power, and at least two sites with the potential for larger, commercial-scale developments. The program builds on wind monitoring activities undertaken by Yukon Energy since 1992. "This is just another shot in the arm to help us along."
